In the sport of lacrosse there is still little media coverage on what goes on in the sport. With other sports, there are many radio shows and podcasts in which fans can get information about their team. Lacrosse does not necessarily have these mediums, until recently. There had been some halfhearted efforts to create lacrosse podcasts in the past, but now Matt Gibson has started his own podcast called No Angle. In the first three episodes, Matt has had specials guests of Callum Robinson, Mark Glicini, and Deemer Class, all current PLL players. This gives the fans an inside look into how the players think about the game and what their personality might be like.
The host of the podcast, Matt Gibson, played lacrosse at Yale University and the went on to play professionally in the MLL for 6 years and retiring in 2018. Matt is known for having unbelievable stick skills and creativity when on the field. Now though, he has directed his attention to writing and podcasting. Gibson wants to create a platform for lacrosse players to be heard and have a voice for things they might not otherwise be asked about. I find it interesting to learn about what each of these lacrosse players do outside of playing professionally to support themselves financially. For most players, the wages they receive from their team is not enough to support them throughout the year. Mark Glicini, also a Yale graduate who was featured on the podcast has a story that I found particularly interesting.
Mark graduated from Yale and played professionally while also having a job in financial services in Manhattan. As time went on, Mark began to realize that this was not what he wanted to do and that we wanted to demand more from himself. With his love for the game and deep knowledge of it, he started a leadership company for athletes looking to play lacrosse at the next level. Mark is able to mentor and coach them through strength training, lacrosse specific training, and what he says is most important, mental training. He explained how being a student of the game is one of the best attributes you can have as an athlete. Although you may not be the most athletic player on the field, you can always be the one who wants to learn the most and gives the most effort. This was just one aspect of the podcast I found interesting.

Overall, it will be interesting to see how the podcast evolves overtime and gains popularity within the sport and then eventually to people who are looking to get into lacrosse.
